'The Football Match' is a stylish and unique silk pocket square with hand-sewn hem. It was created using artist Roy de Maistre's rugby football painting 'The Football Match' and is presented in a complimentary gift box.  Made in England; printed and manufactured with hand-finishing in Macclesfield Cheshire, the traditional home of English silk printing.  Design & Inspiration 'The Football Match' is a stylish and unique full-size silk pocket square and has been created using the rugby football painting 'The Football Match' by Australian modernist artist Roy de Maistre CBE in collaboration with its owner, the Janet Holmes à Court Collection in Perth, and Roy de Maistre's Estate. De Maistre (1894-1968) was a pioneer of modern Australian art; he experimented with linking colours of the spectrum to notes of the musical scale, 'colour-music', and he was recognised as the first Australian artist to use pure abstraction. Works produced following his permanent move to London in 1930 were in a figurative style and based on his interpretation of Cubism. De Maistre's original oil on canvas rugby work was painted in 1938. Little known today is that from 1912 to 1948 the Olympic Games awarded medals for art and literature about sport and 'The Football Match' was submitted for the 1948 London Summer Olympics, representing Great Britain.  The artwork is reproduced with a good balance of colour between the printed and reverse sides of the silk pocket square so works perfectly with any pocket square fold. The image is framed by the pocket square’s blue grey border and blue hand-rolled & hand-sewn hem.  'The Football Match' is presented in a complimentary branded gift box with its blueberry-coloured lid and pale blue base. Inside each box, the high-quality rugby silk pocket square is tissue-wrapped and accompanied by a card telling the story of the artist and his vibrant artwork. Size Full-size silk pocket square, 42cm x 42cm (16.5” x 16.5”). Dimensions may vary slightly following the printing and manufacturing process as silk is a natural material. Material Composition & Care High-quality 100% Mulberry silk woven into 15oz silk twill gives the characteristic sheen and cool touch as well as ensuring the pocket square sits nicely in the top pocket. Silk should always be dry cleaned. Avoid pressing the hand-finished hem to preserve its distinctive 'shoestring' shape.

‘World Class Scrummage’ is a stylish and unique silk pocket square with hand-sewn hem, inspired by figurative movement in rugby. It was created in collaboration with printmaker Paul Cleden and is presented in a complimentary gift box.  Design & Inspiration ‘World Class Scrummage’ is a stylish and unique full-size silk pocket square and has been created in collaboration with printmaker Paul Cleden. His linocut prints with their bold overlapping colours and pared down shapes take several months to produce and each final print is hand-pulled by Paul using his 130-year-old printing press. The original linocut was printed using oil-based inks and inspired by Paul's love of figurative movement in rugby, including the dynamism of the scrum. The work pits forwards against forwards in a titanic scrum clash of White vs Red. The artwork is reproduced with a good balance of colour between the printed and reverse sides of the silk pocket square so works perfectly with any pocket square fold. The image is framed by the pocket square’s white border and turquoise hand-rolled & hand-sewn hem. 'World Class Scrummage' is presented in a complimentary branded gift box with its blueberry-coloured lid and pale blue base. Inside each box, the high-quality rugby silk pocket square is tissue-wrapped and accompanied by a card telling the story of the artist and his vibrant artwork.
